BURSITIS

Inflammation of the bursa sac (a fluid filled structure that reduces friction between the muscle and bone)

Signs and Symptoms:

  • Localized pain with tenderness to touch
  • Increased pain with prolonged pressure to the effected bursa sac such as: pain with side-lying in hip bursitis
  • May become swollen and red
  • Pain with movement of the joint
  • May have a feeling of stiffness or achiness

Common Sites of Bursitis:

  • Hip
  • Elbow
  • Shoulder
  • Knee
